No matter how plain and simple you are,
there's someone who will look at you as if you're the most perfect person ever.

I am still determined to be cheerful and to be happy in whatever situation I may be,
for I have also learnt from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery
depends upon our disposition and not upon our circumstances.

Work It! 9 to 5 Style by Lauren Conrad

Work attire is a tricky subject. While there are a few general rules of thumb for office dressing, it really depends on where you work. Different environments call for different ensembles. In the upcoming weeks, I’ll decode what’s appropriate for a variety of workplace settings in a new blog series called, Dress Coding. For now, I’ll provide you with some general tips on dressing for work.

If you’re new to the working world, I should warn you: Beware of the fashion police otherwise known as “Human Resources” and your fellow co-workers. Committing an at-work fashion faux pas is a legitimate offense!

Wearing the wrong threads has the potential to distort your image as a valued employee and may even prevent you from getting ahead. If Wendy Worker sports tight skirts, sheer blouses and routinely puts her “girls” on display at work, her co-workers may have a difficult time taking her (and her wacko wardrobe) seriously. Therefore, as with all occasions, dress for success—and mean it, especially when you’re on the clock!

Even though all work environments have different rules as to what is and isn’t okay to wear, the following commandments cover most of the general dos and don’ts of dressing for work:

Thou shalt never let your outfit outshine your work.
(Yes, creatives and fashionistas, this applies to you as well!)

Thou shalt abstain from clothing with obnoxious logos.
(Besides Bebe logo tops being so 1999, no one wants a walking billboard in their office.)

You shall avoid all sexy and revealing clothing.
Never show more than 1 inch of cleavage or wear a skirt that skims your bum. For most offices, skirts that hit more than 3 or 4 inches above the knee are considered inappropriate (If you want to wear shorter skirts, or even dress shorts, pair them with opaque tights to temper the higher hemline). Also, no tank tops unless you have something layered over it to cover your shoulders.

Thou shalt not wear any ripped, torn, or sloppy clothing.
This includes anything that can be worn to the gym or the beach (gym shoes and flip-flops etc.)

Thou shall dress like my female boss.
If you do not have a female boss, emulate the highest-ranking female in your company. This doesn’t mean steal her style. Rather, base your office attire on what she considers appropriate. Is she casual? Always dresses to the nines? Take a cue from the people in positions you aspire to have someday. They don’t say, “dress the part” for no reason.

You shall always dress to impress—even on “casual Fridays.”
Don’t let casual Fridays fool you. Jeans may be okay, but that old tee reserved for lazy Sundays and those hot pink flip-flops are just not going to cut it… Casual Friday attire should be based on your weekly work wear, but taken down a few notches.

Thou shalt not don underwear as outerwear.
Ever. This is pretty self-explanatory…

You shall always use your best judgment.
Consider your work environment and dress accordingly. Anything you can wear to a club should never step foot in an office. If you’re unsure about an outfit, it’s best to err on the side of caution and go with something else.

September Shopping Ideas

Autumn is right around the corner and I am in dire need of a shift in wardrobe pieces!
Around this time the weather tends to be quite cool around dawn, warms up nicely in the afternoon, and then cools down again at dusk.
I'm not ready to pull out my heavier coats just yet because I know it'll be too heavy.
The internal temperature at my work place is quite cool, and yet we do have a dress code to abide by. Which I'm totally fine with because my style runs along the same terms of, so I'm not making any sacrifices whatsoever ;)
For this season, skirts get longer, boots get comfier, tights become essential, and jackets are a MUST. I've done some research on trends and taking from that I know what I'll be looking for on my next shopping trip :)

 Floor length/maxi dresses
I love the bohemian-chic associated with these dresses. They're conservative yet cool!
Pair them with a cute cardigan and belt and they go from summer fabulous to autumn lovely.

Wide leg jeans and trousers
The cut of these pants look a lot more polished and put together than just your average pair of jeans I find. And having the hem touch the ground to the point where they cover your shoes make your legs look so much longer! They can easily be paired with a blazer, jacket, or cute blouse.

A-Line skirts and Cute Blouses
I love that these 2 simple pieces paired together make for a such pretty outfit.
They can be mixed and match is so many ways!

Will Ferrell

Google: "I have everything!"
Facebook: "I know everybody!"
Internet: "Without me you're nothing!"
Electricity: "Keep talking, bitches."

Oh, you're a model? What's your agency, Instagram?

Everyone I know is in a relationship and I'm just sitting here like,
"I love food."

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

For me, multitasking means screwing up several tasks at once.

You look like I could use a drink

If swimming is so good for your figure, then how do you explain whales?!

My elbow is a whore, it bangs everything

Flower Power

Discovery leads to amazing things.
Earlier today I walked into my sisters bedroom looking to use some of her hairspray,
but I ended up getting way more than I bargained for.
Sitting right next to her tub of hair products was her container of hair accessories in which she keeps things like bobby pins, headbands, elastics, clips, and what have you. And inside that lovely little container I found THIS...

 The cutest black flower hairband!
Knowing the fact that it had been sitting at the very bottom of the bin,
I don't think my sister had touched it in a long time.
It may have been neglected but I thought it had some life still left in it.

And with that I quickly curled my hair with a curling iron
(I'm not sure why but I always think that curls and headbands are like made for each other)
and wore that headband like it was a friggin' diamond ring.
It looks adorable don't cha think??

Here are some more pics and close-ups
This was also an opportunity for me to do a bit of cam-whoring.

The flower piece is constructed almost like an orchid and made of some lace fabric,
all of it attached onto a garter hairband.
I haven't a clue where my sister purchased it from,
but I'll have to ask so I can spend have some for my own collection :)

Hair For Tiffany

I've hand-picked some different looks that I felt are suitable for your outfit, evening, and season. Although there's a bunch of pictures, many of them follow the same techniques but, even the slightest change like texture or part makes a world of difference. Different portraits also just go to show the different angles in which it can look. I understand that my lovely friend Tiffany would like to keep her hair down for the night of her birthday bash, which is fantastic seeing as it suits the shape of her face and really shows off her long locks.
The theme of the evening will be cocktail mixed with a bit of James Bond. So we're talking suits, dresses, high heels, and martini's! When it comes to James Bond, I think sophisticated, elegant, effortless, simple yet refined. Bond girls remain to be seen as sexy, smart and sultry, and it certainly shows with their hair! Thus we're talking polished curls, luscious volume, and "damn girl, can I get you numba?!" kinda thing... You get what I mean ;)

Pinned back or Pinned Up
These hairstyles are fun, youthful, but still put together.
The curls add class while the volume gives structure and shape.
This look I had already done on you Tiff, this one however has the bangs twisted away from the face and the curls are tighter and less loose.

This hairstyle rather doesn't actually have "curls" as it may appear,
what I would do is place all of your hair in velcro rollers to achieve that volume and twisted ends.
Then I'd strategically pin back the top sections.

This hairstyle on the other hand DOES have curls, I'd simply curl all of your hair, tease the crown to get that slight "poof" and pin the top and side sections.
Quite simply the ever class - "half up half down"

Gimme summa that umph!
This look SCREAMS Bond Girl!
Sexy and sultry waves frame the face, and the soft curls and flipped ends give sophistication

Having all the curls and waves brushed and blended together easily make this look,
and having the hair to the side make it edgy but timeless.

Essentially this look is the same as the one before.
Only difference? Parting it in the middle ;D

Ah! Summer beach waves are a must this season and they look amazing in any occassion.
What makes this look distinct is of course parting the hair in the middle, and adding a bit of texture to the end of the curls.

  Classic Curls.
You can never wrong with a look as simple as this one.

I might not be someone's first choice, but I am a great choice.
I don't pretend to be someone I'm not, because I'm good at being me.
I might not be proud of some of the things I've done in the past, but I'm proud of who I am today.
I may not be perfect, but I don't need to be.
I am the way God made me.
Take me as I am or watch me as I walk away.
